It’s Ben Sherman’s birthday. The British classic label is turning 50. That means it is older than Jakob (21) and I (22) together. Impressive!
50 years are a damn long time in the fast-paced fashion world so they have a very good reason to celebrate. The bold announcement is, that they want to celebrate their anniversary throughout the entire year. Such ambitious party plans have our full support of course.
Kick-off is tomorrow night in Berlin: Accompanied by free drinks, a DJ set by Engtanzkavalier and a fair 20% discount on the spring collection the anniversary book, 50 YEARS OF BRITISH STYLE CULTURE, will be presented from 19.00-21.00 in the Ben Sherman Store (Rosenthaler Strasse 31).
The book’s author, Josh Sims, looks back at British men’s fashion from it’s first meek attempts of rebellion to the young generation that did not look up to their dads anymore, but was inspired by its culture’s own signals.
He also writes about the subcultures of Teddy Boys, Mods, Rockers, Punks, and Skinheads – all of them youth movements in which Ben Sherman has played in important role.
50 years of British subculture, 50 years Ben Sherman, a book, drinks, music and 1,20 meters of fresh snow in Berlin – There are many reasons for us to raise our glasses tomorrow evening.
