Christopher Walken’s dad is from Gelsenkirchen-Horst where he worked as a baker. That alone doesn’t really make his sone eligible to ever receive the honors of being “Dandy of the Week” of course.
The fact that Christopher Walken, this huge character actor – although character in this case is mainly in the category of psychopathic asshole – of Hollywood is receiving the award is on the one hand owed to his extremely good sense of style (there is hardly anyone in his generation that can pull of a three-piece suit as well as him), and on the other hand due to him being an insanely great dancer.
The Süddeutsche Zeitung wrote the following about the talent that’s rather rarely to be encountered in German clubs and the environment of Dandy Diary: “Herbert Ross knew how to exploit it in a brilliant whorehouse scene, Walken as a dancing, even stripping pimp on a pool table in “Pennies form Heaven”. Spike Jonze captured the talent again for a new generation in the video for Fatboy Slim’s “Weapon of Cohice” in a breathtaking manner.”
We are super jealous of this great, important talent.
Danish fashion brand JACK & JONES have now further fueled our inner fire by showing Christopher Walken in a series of 5 episodes as a tailor – and of course here too he is dancing around the tailor table like a cat.
Winnie Andersen, Head of Design of the “premium” line of JACK&JONES explains why the Danes had were cool enough to persuade the ever grumpy Walken to do his first testimonial job ever, as follows:
“Christopher Walken is the biggest style icon to us and a fantastic source of inspiration. The campaign is tailored to him. He represents style more than fashion and his acting perfromances are first class craft – just like our brand.”
By the way, Paul Walken, Christopher’s dad, has given him this fatherly advice: “No matter what you do in life, always do it with passion, or don’t do it at all.”
Oh well. We’ll try and take that in and quit the dancing. As opposed to Christopher Walken we never really had any passion for it. The only reason was to score a few hot chicks.
Obviously that never worked. After all we’re not Chris Walken.
Anyway: Christopher walken, you sinister dancer, hereby you are being awarded the title “Dandy of the Week”. Yes!
