Riccardo Tisci has done it again. He’s surprised us without really doing anything new. The now presented Spring 2014 GIVENCHY collection looks more like a logical evolution of his previous work. It’s reminiscent of both, the last men’s and women’s fall collection. And yet, Tisci has again gone a step further. He created a loud and colorful mix of LSD dreams, gay soldiers, flower hippies, and Latin American urban street warriors in sandals.
The most prominent feature of the collection are the wildly combined patterns. We get to see flames, camouflage, (pink!), checks, Disney pictures with flowers. Tisci strictly arranges the patterns that seem to be clashing at first glance. We’ll probably have to call this pattern-blocking.
