Not only “patchwork families” (that’s what we call blended families in German, i.e. families with children from previous relationships) are currently trending, patchwork creations are as well. Designer Kris van Assche showed sweaters in his Autumn/Winter 2013 show which were put together from an impressive six individual pieces.
Junuya Watanabe and Thom Browne are also going for the patchwork technique. They designed trousers and jackets with many patches. However, the Maison Martin Margiela designs, leather cape and sweater, show that patchwork is a risky venture. The Margiela designs inevitably make us think of ugly rag rugs.
